Office Location: Stockley Park, Uxbridge, UK
Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 9am – 5pm (35 hours per week, 1 hour lunch break)
Job Summary:
The Environmental & Technical Regulatory Engineer would carry out various activities related to
Environmental Legislation & Technical Specifications applied to the EU (European Union) Member States, FR, UK, and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) Nations, under the supervision of his/her
Line Manager and the Technical Division General Manager.
The main activities would include:
- To research the EU/FR/UK Environmental Legislation (Regulations / Directives / Standards) and report to the relevant MHI Departments, reflecting to the products development schedule;
- Within the HVACR Industry Associations, to cooperate with the other Stakeholders in order to get
the latest information and support the business activities for Environmental Legislation compliance;
- To exchange information with all MHI Distributors regarding the implementation of specific National
Environmental Legislation and report to the relevant MHI Departments
- To support all MHI Distributors in terms of technical specifications.
Other activities would include benchmarking, marketing analysis and product planning.
Main Duties Description:
Continuous research of several EU & FR/UK Regulations / Directives
- Report the latest information and the way to deal with them in relationship to MHI products in
the following area:
- Chemical Substance Regulations / Directives and Enforcement action by National Government,
mainly related to WEEE, RoHS, REACH, Waste Packaging
- HVACR Regulation / Directive and Enforcement action by National Government related to F-Gas, Ecodesign, Energy Labelling, EPBD
- LVD, PED, MD, EMC Directives for the affix of CE and relevant enforcement action by National Government.
- Cooperate with Associations relating to the Environmental Legislation compliance requirements
affecting the HVACR industry, attending and reporting on all relevant meetings and events:
- JBCE Association (Japan Business Council in Europe): Air-Conditioning WG (Working Group), Environment & Energy Committee, REACH WG, RoHS IG (Issue Group), Ecodesign & Energy Labelling IG
- EPEE Association (European Partnership for Energy and the Environment): Ecodesign WG,
F-Gas WG, Energy Efficiency WG, and all related Task Forces.
- EUROVENT Compliance committee
- FETA Association ((Federation of Environmental Trade Associations): HPA (Heat Pump Association)
and HVAC Group (Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning)
.
- Attend and report on EU Commission/ FR/UK Government Stakeholders meetings / workshops and
Consultation Forum meetings.
- Report on the exchange of information with MHI Business Partners and Distributors in each Territory
(EU, FR, CIS) on National Legislation, Subsidies & Incentive schemes and on local HVACR
association lobbying activities
- Support MHI Business Partners and Distributors in their application and registration of MHI products in software/databases used to access incentives
- Support MHI Business Partners and Distributors in their application and registration of MHI products
for Product Certifications issued by Notified Bodies.
- Pre-Sales technical support to MHI Business Partners and Distributors
- Visit MHI Business Partners and Distributors offices
- Survey the local market information for new MHI products development and deployment
- Introduction of new products highlighting features and benefits
Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
The ideal Candidate:
- Has a Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Has a fundamental understanding of the heat pump cycle
- Has good knowledge of EU and FR/UK Environmental Regulations / Directives / Standards applied to the HVACR industry (Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration)
- Has experience in attending and actively contributing to industry lobbying activities
- Has strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Has fluent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Has fluent written and verbal communication skills in French - Other European language(s) beneficial
- Is capable of multi-tasking and has strong problem-solving skills
- Well understands of customer requirements (priorities and timing requirements)
- Has good level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- The Candidate is also required to go on small Business Trips in Europe (mainly Brussels) and UK
Business trips across Europe with a short notice may be required.
