Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) is looking for a Senior HR Generalist to join our team. This is a hybrid role based out of our Plano, Texas location.

SCOPE:
The Senior Human Resources Generalist provides senior-level general HR support by partnering with business leaders and managers to make informed HR decisions, address employee matters, take appropriate corrective actions, and support alignment with corporate HR initiatives. This role serves as a trusted HR resource on policy interpretation, employee relations, compliance, HR systems, and core HR operations, helping managers and employees understand and apply HR processes consistently.
The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of related experience in HR operations or related roles.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with business leaders and managers to assess HR needs, provide informed guidance, and support sound people decisions related to employee relations, performance concerns, corrective actions, policy interpretation, and organizational priorities.
- Advise managers on appropriate documentation, coaching steps, corrective action processes, and escalation points to help ensure decisions are consistent, compliant, and aligned with company practices.
- Support implementation of corporate HR initiatives, programs, communications, and change-management activities by helping translate requirements into practical guidance for managers and employees.
- Maintain working oversight of HR operations, including onboarding, offboarding, HRIS data, employee records, payroll coordination, training/LMS, recognition, and reporting; understand these processes in sufficient detail to provide backup support, educate managers, and ensure consistent, compliant execution.
- Support onboarding and offboarding activities by ensuring managers understand process requirements, documentation expectations, timing, and employee communication needs; provide backup support for personnel transactions and orientations when needed.
- Assist in identifying employee and manager training needs, support the development and communication of training programs, maintain course catalog accuracy in the Learning Management System (LMS), and monitor completion to support compliance and workforce capability.
- Maintain familiarity with timekeeping and payroll approval processes to identify recurring issues, educate managers and employees on expectations, coordinate corrections with appropriate stakeholders, and support timely, accurate bi-weekly payroll preparation.
- Serve as a resource for employee leaves and reasonable accommodation administration by identifying when leave-related needs arise, educating employees and managers on eligibility, documentation, and return-to-work expectations and supporting compliant handling of leave and accommodation matters.
- Support payroll coordination by reviewing employee status changes, data updates, leave-related entries, and non-standard pay scenarios; work with payroll resources and managers to resolve discrepancies, corrections, or urgent adjustments.
- Monitor workforce trends, HR metrics, recurring employee issues, and HRIS-tracked activities to identify risks, recommend practical improvements, and support consistent follow-through.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in HR operations or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in HRIS administration, reporting, and troubleshooting, with experience improving system processes and data governance.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR metrics, identify trends, and recommend solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with the highest level of discretion.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis) and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence leaders.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with SuccessFactors HRIS or similar enterprise systems.
- Experience with UKG payroll systems.
- Experience in multinational or geographically dispersed organizations.
- HR certification (SHRM CP, PHR, SHRM SCP, SPHR).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Travel up to 10%.
- Standard Monday through Friday work week; occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
- Lifting/physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, talk, and/or hear. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
